Oxalic acid is a dicarboxylic acid. It reacts with aqueous iron(II) salt solutions to afford iron(III) oxalate.

Application

Oxalic acid may be used in the preparation of the following:
  • ammonium oxalate

  • chlorine dioxide (ClO2)
  • potassium hydrogenoxalate
