General description

Zirconium(IV) propoxide solution (commonly referred to as zirconium(IV) tetrapropoxide or zirconium(IV) n-propoxide) is a clear, very pale yellow liquid composed of approximately 70% zirconium(IV) propoxide dissolved in 1-propanol. It serves as a precursor in solution and vapor deposition processes, particularly in the preparation of zirconia-based materials and thin films. Its solubility in organic solvents and volatility make it suitable for sol-gel synthesis and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques. It is also used as an inorganic catalyst in organic synthesis, benefiting from zirconium′s Lewis acidic properties.

Application

Zirconium(IV) propoxide solution is a metal alkoxide solution that is highly reactive with water. It can be used as a precursor material for the synthesis of zirconium oxide thin films by atmospheric pressure electrospray. Zirconium(IV) propoxide can also be used in the preparation of stable sols for potential usage in optical, electronic and magnetic applications.

Features and Benefits

  • Volatile Precursor: Ideal for vapor-phase deposition techniques such as CVD and ALD.
  • High Concentration: Contains 70 wt.% Zirconium(IV) propoxide in 1-propanol for efficient delivery of active zirconium.
  • Ready-to-Use Solution: Pre-dissolved in 1-propanol, offering convenience and ease of handling.
