ApplicationImmunoblotting (1:1000-1:2000, colorimetric)
DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody supplied as undiluted serum. Recognizes the ~37 kDa latent and the ~28 kDa active forms of cathepsin S.
BackgroundCathepsin S is a cysteine proteinase expressed in a variety of cells. The latent pro-cathepsin S (37 kDa) is processed to the active single chain form (28 kDa). Unlike cathepsin B and cathepsin L, cathepsin S exists only in single chain form. The pro peptide contains 99 amino acids. Mature Cathepsin S is normally localized in the lysosomes where it plays a major role in intracellular protein catabolism. High levels of cathepsin S expression have been demonstrated for many human tumors including cancers of the kidney, lung, colon, breast and ovary.
