      Control
      • CONTROL ANTIGEN: Included free of charge with the antibody is 40 μg of control antigen (lyophilized powder). The stock solution of the antigen can be made up using 100 μL of sterile distilled water. For negative control, preincubate 1 μg of peptide with 1 μg of antibody for one hour at room temperature. Optimal concentrations must be determined by the end user.
PresentationAffinity purified immunoglobulin. Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA and 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative. Reconstitute with 200 μL of sterile deionized water. Centrifuge antibody preparation before use (10,000 xg for 5 min).

      Biological Information
ImmunogenPurified peptide P2X7 from 576-595 of rat P2X7 (Koshlukova et al. 2000).
ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
      HostRabbit
SpecificityThe epitope is specific for P2X7 and is not present in any other known protein.

SPECIES REACTIVITIES: Rat, mouse (Solee et al. 2001) and Candida albicans (Koshlukova et al. 2000). The sequence is highly conserved in mouse and human (18/20 and 16/20 residues identical, respectively). Reactivity with other species has not been tested.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe product of this gene belongs to the family of purinoceptors for ATP. This receptor functions as a ligand-gated ion channel and is responsible for ATP-dependent lysis of macrophages through the formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Activation of this nuclear receptor by ATP in the cytoplasm may be a mechanism by which cellular activity can be coupled to changes in gene expression. Multiple alternatively spliced variants which would encode different isoforms have been identified although some fit nonsense-mediated decay (NMD) criteria.
      Gene Symbol
      • P2RX7
      • MGC20089
      • P2X7
      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: Q99572 # Receptor for ATP that acts as a ligand gated ion channel. Responsible for ATP-dependent lysis of macrophages through the formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Could function in both fast synaptic transmission and the ATP-mediated lysis of antigen-presenting cells.
SIZE: 595 amino acids; 68559 Da
SUBUNIT: Forms homo- or heteropolymers. Interacts with LAMA3, ITGB2, ACTB, ACTN4, SVIL, MPP3, HSPA1, HSPCB, HSPA8, PIK230 and PTPRB.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
PTM: Phosphorylation results in its inactivation.
SIMILARITY: SwissProt: Q99572 ## Belongs to the P2X receptor family.
