ロイペプチンは、溶液中で互変異性異性体の形成により、HPLCでは複数のピークが見られます。夾雑ペプチドの大部分はラセミ化ロイペプチンです。

Biochem/physiol Actions

セリンプロテアーゼおよびシステインプロテアーゼのインヒビターです。プラスミン、トリプシン、パパイン、カルパイン、およびカテプシンBを阻害します。ペプシン、カテプシンAとD、トロンビン、およびαキモトリプシンは阻害しません。有効濃度は、10～100 μMです。
セリンプロテアーゼおよびシステインプロテアーゼのインヒビターです。プラスミン、トリプシン、パパイン、カルパイン、およびカテプシンBを阻害します。ペプシン、カテプシンAとD、トロンビン、およびαキモトリプシンは阻害しません。有効濃度は、10～100 μMです。音響過剰刺激や聴覚毒性抗生物質であるゲンタマイシンによって生じる難聴からの保護に、ロイペプチンを用いた試験が多数行われています。(蝸牛有毛細胞の欠損はカルパインが媒介すると考えられています。)
