General description
Sodium borohydride (NaBH4) is the most commonly available borohydride used in several industrial applications. It is considered a selective reducing agent due to its ability to selectively reduce aldehydes and ketones into their corresponding alcohols in the presence of other functional groups such as nitro, ester, amide, lactone, epoxide, and nitriles. Ethanol and methanol are usually employed as solvents in NaBH4 reduction reactions.
Application
Sodium borohydride (tablets form) can be used as a potential candidate to store as well as generate hydrogen for energy-carrier,applications.
