Biochem/physiol Actions

Cysteine is a non-essential, thiol-containing amino acid that has protective effects in normal tissues. It is converted to glutathione that decreases the effects of chemotherapeutic and radiation agents. This might restrict the effect of therapeutic agents used for cancer treatment.
