Benzalkonium chloride is typically used as preservative in liquid formulations, e.g. for topic, ophthalmic, nasal and parenteral applications. It is effective against a wide range of bacteria, yeast and fungi.
Due to a defined C12:C14 ratio with high batch-to-batch consistency, Benzalkonium chloride Emprove^® Expert provides higher solubility and antimicrobial activity. It can be used in combination with thimerosal, disodium edetate and benzyl alcohol to further increase antimicrobial activity.
