General description
Ammonium hydroxide is a weak base mainly used as a source to prepare other ammonium compounds like urea, ammonium carbonate and ammonium sulfate etc.
Application
Ammonium hydroxide solution may be used:
- As a medium to prepare magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles via a modified controlled chemical coprecipitation method.
- As a solvent and reagent to prepare 4-aryl and 4-alkyl-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydro-3,5-pyridinedicarboxylates via Hantzsch synthesis in a microwave cavity synthesizer.
