General description
Selenium is a non-metallic p-type semiconductor and is commercially produced as a by-product in refining sulfide-bearing copper minerals. It has good photovoltaic and photoconductive properties and is extensively used in the electronics such as solar cells, light meters, and, photocells. It also finds application in the field of ceramics, pigments, metallurgy, agriculture, glasses, and lubricants.
