General description
The Product is 6M solution of hydrochloric acid in water. Hydrochloric acid is a strong mineral acid. It participates in the synthesis of alloxan (hexahydropyrimidine-2,4,5,6-tetrone) and hydrated aluminum chloride.
Application
Hydrochloric acid may be used in the following studies:
- Preparation of orcinolhydrochloric acid (Bial′s reagent), which is useful for the quantitative determination of sialic acids.
- Hydrolytic decomposition of chitin.
- Preparation of ammonium chloride.
