General description

Nickel(II) sulfate is an inorganic compound that exhibits high solubility in water. It is commonly used in electroplating, as a chemical intermediate in the preparation of other nickel salts, and as a source of nickel ions for various processes. Additionally, it has applications in the battery industry and as a catalyst in organic synthesis.
Properties of NiSO4:
  • Highly soluble in water
  • It can participate in redox reactions
  • It can form complexes with various ligands

Application

Nickel(II) sulfate can be used as a precursor to synthesize:
  • Nickel-based electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution.
  • Ni-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles for the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants such as methyl orange.
  • Spherical silica particles coated with Ni, which find application in the field of ceramic industry and in catalysis.
