General description

Menthone belongs to the group of terpenes, found in a variety of volatile oils including pennyroyal, peppermint, and geranium. It finds applications in perfume and flavor compositions. Menthone is reported as a characteristic marker for the consumption of peppermint liqueurs, herbal, and bitter liqueurs.

Application

Menthone may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in food, pharmaceutical products, serum samples and Menthae Herba using chromatography techniques.
