General description

Ethanolamine is an alkanolamine. Ethanolamine is an essential growth-promoting supplement for serum-free medium for culturing mouse plasmacytomas and hybridoma cell lines of MPC11-BL and SP2/0-BL origins. It is reported to efficiently inhibit the coupling reaction of aryl halides.

Application

Ethanolamine was used for the synthesis of N-oleoylaminoethanol standard. It was also used for the preparation and derivatization of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) films. It may be used in the scintillating method for evaluating counts for carbon-14.
