General description

Thiophene belongs to the class of polycyclic aromatic sulfur heterocycles, which are carcinogenic compounds found in crude oil. Thiopenes are widely used as building blocks in many agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and material science.

Application

Thiophene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in diesel oil and crude oil using two-dimensional gas chromatography with sulfur chemiluminescence detection.
