General description

Nonane is a linear alkane that is mainly obtained from petroleum distillate. It is used as a solvent in organic synthesis.

Application

Nonane (n-Nonane) can be used as a solvent in:
  • The Ullman reaction and the hydrogenation of CO2 to form CH3OH in the presence of a copper catalyst.
  • The porosity characterization of different carbons by “nonane blocking of micropores”.
