一塩基リン酸カリウムは無色、水溶性の結晶であり、吸湿性を有します。加熱すると187°CでKH2PO4が相転移を起こして結晶型が正方晶から単斜へと変化します（195°Cにおける格子定数： α=7.47Å、b =7.33Å、c =14.49Å、α=β=90°、γ=92.2）。
