パラフィン中の水素化カリウムは、塩基として以下の用途に使用できます。
- 高いZ選択性によるさまざまなアルデヒドのWittig反応。
- アルコールから置換エーテルを調製するためのWilliamsonエーテル合成。
- エチレンオキシドの重合によるポリエチレングリコールの生成。
General description
水素化カリウムは強塩基であり、Lewis（ルイス）酸に対する水素化物供与体です。一般に、脱プロトン化反応、転位反応および脱離反応などの有機反応に使用されます。また、立体障害のあるボランおよびホウ酸塩を置換水素化ホウ素に還元するための還元剤としても使用されます。
混合物の調製に用いたパラフィンの融点は約55～65°Cです。
