Steroid hormone secreted by the corpus luteum during the latter half of the menstrual cycle. Binds to the progesterone receptor in the nucleus to influence transcription. Used as a contraceptive agent and in the treatment of uterine disorders.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, refrigerate (4°C). Ethanol stock solutions are stable for up to 6 months at 4°C.
