General description

28 kDa
ミエリンオリゴデンドロサイト糖タンパク質（MOG）は、多発性硬化症における原発性脱髄に関する重要なCNS特異的自己抗原です。MOGの疾患誘発性の役割は確立されていますが、CNSにおける正確な機能は明らかにされていません。 MOGは、単一の細胞外Ig可変ドメイン（Ig-V）を有するI型内在性膜タンパク質です（3, 13, 14）。MOGのアミノ酸配列は動物種間で高度に保存されており（>90%）、重要な生物学的機能があることが示唆されています。MOGは、CNSのミエリン鞘の最も外側のラメラ上ならびにオリゴデンドロサイトの細胞体と突起で特異的に発現されています。発生後期のMOGの発現はミエリン形成の後期段階と関連しており、MOGがミエリンの完成、圧縮、および／または維持に役割を果たしていることが示唆されています。また、MOGにはCNS内で接着性の機能があることも示唆されています。CNSにおけるMOGの接着性の役割の可能性と一致して、ホモ二量体のMOGが、CNSからの単離後に観察されるだけでなく、in situでも認められています。
