Biochem/physiol Actions

レチノールとその誘導体は、抗老化特性を示します。レチノールは、皺および老化の徴候の治療に使用されます。しかし、光に不安定であり皮膚刺激性があることから、化粧品にはほとんど使用されません。レチノールは、皮膚疾患の治療にも使用されます。レチノール欠乏は、乾燥症および濾胞性過角化症の原因となります。

General description

レチナール酸、レチノール酸、およびレチノイン酸は、ビタミンAのアルデヒド型、アルコール型、および酸性型です。レチノイドは、脂肪族鎖中の不飽和結合に起因する多数の幾何異性体として存在します。レチノールは広範囲のプロセスにおいて生物学的活性を示します。
レチノール、または全トランス型レチノールは、シクロヘキセニル環、4つの二重結合（すべてトランス配置）を持つ側鎖1本、ならびにアルコール末端基を有する炭素20個の分子です。
