ある種の立体配座の一次配列を持つBSAエピトープは、ヒトの牛肉、牛乳アレルギーのアレルゲンである疑いがあります。
アルブミン高値は脱水症と関連性があります。アルブミン代謝回転は、鉄欠乏性貧血の幼児に見られます。血清中のアルブミン濃度は肝疾患の進行と関連性があります。
ウシ血清アルブミンはBSAまたはフラクションVとも呼ばれ、牛から単離されたタンパク質です。BSAは酵素免疫測定法（ELASA）において、ポリ-l-リジン（PLL）処理および無処理いずれのマイクロウェルにおいても空の結合部位をブロックすることができます。また、インスリン依存性糖尿病発生の要因となり得ます。
General description
アルブミンはヒトにおいて最も豊富にみられる血漿タンパクです。分子量は約66.5 kDaです。
Preparation Note
血清アルブミンはフラクション（画分）Vと呼ばれる場合があります。この命名規則は、冷エタノール沈殿を用いて血清タンパク質を分画するオリジナルのCohn（コーン）法から取られています。血清アルブミンは、Cohn法を用いて第5エタノール画分に認められました。それ以来、「フラクションV」という用語は、調製の方法に関係なく血清アルブミンを記述するのに使用されています。他の人はこの用語を使用して、オリジナルのCohn法が記述されて以降大幅に改変されたエタノール分画法により精製された血清アルブミンのことを記述しています。Sigma-Aldrichは、真のCohn分画法、改変エタノール分画法、熱ショックやクロマトグラフィーなど様々な主要方法で精製された血清アルブミンを製造および販売しています。さらなる精製ステップには、結晶化や活性炭ろ過が含まれる場合があります。
