コンブレタスタチンA4は、強力な微小管標的化剤（MTA）です。
コンブレタスタチンA4は、腫瘍血管系を標的として血管形成を阻害する血管障害剤(VDA)です。
コンブレタスタチンA4は、腫瘍血管系を標的として血管形成を阻害する血管障害剤(VDA)です。β-チューブリンのコルヒチン結合部位でチューブリン重合を阻害します。また、ヒト胃細胞のAKTの機能を抑制することにより抗癌作用を発揮しています。AKT活性化の阻害は細胞増殖の低下、細胞周期の停止を引き起こすほか、in vitroにおける細胞遊走、侵襲性やin vivoの転移能を低下させることが知られています。コンブレタスタチンA4は天然のスチルベノイドフェノールです。
