FBSは、細胞培養に幅広い機能を提供するので、依然として定評のある培地サプリメントです。FBSは、栄養、増殖因子および付着因子を送達し、無血清培地（SFM）系では再現困難なメカニズムにより細胞を酸化的損傷とアポトーシスから防御します。

General description

ウシ胎児血清（FBS）は、最適な増殖促進および増殖抑制機能を示す、低分子および高分子量生体分子の複雑な混合物です。FBSは、成長因子、タンパク質、ビタミン、微量元素、ホルモンなどの分子を含んでいます。これらの分子は、細胞の増殖や維持に重要です。細胞培養培地のための一般的なサプリメントです。FBSは、ウシ胎児血液由来です。FBSは、フィブリンと凝固因子が除去されています。FBSの熱不活化により、補体成分が不活化されます。凝固血由来のFBSは、真核生物、特に哺乳類の細胞培養において、最も幅広く使用される非定義のサプリメントです。1950年代から60年代にかけて開発された旧知の培地に、一般的に使用されます。これらには、最小必須培地（MEM）；ダルベッコ変法イーグル培地（DME、DMEM）；イスコフ改変イーグル培地（IMDM）；M199およびロズウェルパーク記念研究所培地（RPMI-1640）などの多くの一般的な培地が含まれます。

細菌、ウイルス、マイコプラズマ、エンドトキシンの存在の有無について検査済みであり、ヘモグロビン含量についても検査済みです。無菌条件下にて0.1ミクロン膜で3回ろ過済みです。
