Biochem/physiol Actions

ゲラニルゲラニルピロリン酸（GGPP）は、葉緑体の2次代謝に関与する主要な酵素です。GGPPシンターゼはテルペノイドの生合成において重要な役割を果たします。タンパク質ゲラニルゲラニル化は、ゲラニルゲラニルピロリン酸により媒介され、心室腔の発達に関与しています。また、これは妊娠中期に心臓細胞構築の形成を調節するためのステージ特異的なシグナルとしても機能します。
細胞内メバロン酸経路由来のイソプレノイドで、Rasを含むいくつかの低分子量Gタンパクのプレニル化に用いられます。テルペン生合成の中間体です。
