本キットは、食物および他の材料中のグルコ-スを定量的、酵素的に測定するための製品です。グルコ-スは、ヘキソキナ-ゼが触媒する反応においてアデノシン三リン酸 (ATP) によりリン酸化されます。次に、グルコ-ス 6-リン酸(G6P)は、酸化型ニコチンアミドアデニンジヌクレオチド (NAD) の存在下で グルコ-ス 6-リン酸デヒドロゲナ-ゼ (G-6PDH)が触媒する反応において酸化されて6-ホスホグルコン酸になります。この酸化の間に、等モルのNADが還元されて NADHになります。その結果として生ずる 340 nmでの吸光度の増加は、グルコ-スの濃度に正比例します。
