GPX8 (glutathione peroxidase 8) is a mammalian Cys-glutathione peroxidase. It has a conserved N-terminal transmembrane domain (TMD) and a C-terminal KDEL-like motif. GPX8 is located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). This gene is located on human chromosome 5q11.2.

GPX8 (glutathione peroxidase 8) helps to block the leakage of H₂O₂ from the endoplasmic reticulum. It participates in protein folding. GPX8 also participates in the synthesis of viral particles but not in HCV (hepatitis C virus) entry or RNA replication.
