オキサンドロロンは合成タンパク質同化ステロイドです。オキサンドロロンは、エストロゲン効果が無く、穏やかなアンドロゲン活性を持つ非芳香族化アンドロゲンです。 オキサンドロロンの臨床用途には、広範囲の手術あるいは慢性感染症もしくは外傷後の体重減後の体重増加の促進、コルチコステロイドの長期投与に関連するタンパク質異化の相殺、しばしば骨粗鬆症を伴う骨痛の緩和、および女児のターナー症候群の治療などがあります。
