General description
Nimesulide, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belongs to the sulfonanilide class.
Application
Nimesulide has been used as a component in the reaction mixture to determine the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) in spleen of chickens.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Nimesulide can be used as a substitute to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to treat pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis for a short period. It can perform anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities.
Highly selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor.
