Nickel(II) acetate tetrahydrate is an ionic compound soluble in water and polar solvents. It is commonly used as a precursor for the synthesis of various nickel oxide and nickel hydroxide nanostructures. These nanostructures have applications in supercapacitors, batteries, and catalysis. Used in synthesis of polynuclear-nickel polyoxotungstate cluster compounds that are ideal for the design of molecular magnets.
