General description

Sodium oxalate is a sodium salt of oxalic acid consisting of sodium and oxalate ions. It is used as a reducing agent in chemical synthesis. Additionally, it also acts as a surface modifier and a desulfurizing agent.

Application

Sodium oxalate can be used as a stabilizer in the determination of L-ascorbic acid in vitamin C products by the ultraviolet spectrophotometric method. It is also used in the synthesis of copper oxalate nanoparticles by electrolysis of copper plate as anode.
