Application
Ethanol has been used in indirect immunofluorescence for washing the mouse tissues section and then mounted in elvanol for visualizing with a BX60 photomicroscope. It has also been used for thymocyte preparation.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ethanol provides controlled pH, temperature and ionic strength for protein separation. It blocks the ion current induced by the glutamate receptor agonist N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) in hippocampal neurons.
Features and Benefits
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. Ethanol is environmentally preferable green solvent and thus it aligns with "Safer Solvents and Auxiliaries". Click here for more information.

The ion current induced by the glutamate receptor agonist N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) in voltage-clamped hippocampal neurons was inhibited by ethanol (EtOH). Inhibition increased in a concentration-dependent manner over the range 5 to 50 mM, a range that also produces intoxication. The
