General description
Albumin belongs to the four-member albumin superfamily. It is a major protein in the circulating blood. Albumin has a helical structure with three domains that form a heart-like shape.
Application
Bovine Serum Albumin solution has been used:
- to block protein-coated well plates in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for immunoreactivity and cross-reactivity studies in the production of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)
- to prepare primary antibody solution for peroxidases staining
- as a supplement for in vitro cultivation of Borrelia strains
Biochem/physiol Actions
Bovine serum albumin (BSA) serves as a protein supplement for cell culture media. BSA acts as a transport carrier for drugs, and it is commonly used to study the protein-drug interactions. Furthermore, it is known for its ability to interact with several aromatic and hydrophobic molecules of the bloodstream.

Borrelia turcica is a reptile-associated Borrelia species that is vectored by the hard tick Hyalomma aegyptium. Tortoises of the genus Testudo represent the principal host of adult H. aegyptium, while immature stages are less host-specific and can be found on

Reporter-expressing recombinant virus represents an excellent option and a powerful tool to investigate, among others, viral infection, pathogenicity, and transmission, as well as to identify therapeutic compounds that inhibit viral infection and prophylactic vaccines. The use of monoclonal neutralizing antibodies (mNAbs) is being actively pursued as a viable intervention for the treatment of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoV-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and associated coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). While highly potent mNAbs have great therapeutic potential

Sarcomeres, the basic contractile units of striated muscle, produce the forces driving muscular contraction through cross-bridge interactions between actin-containing thin filaments and myosin II-based thick filaments. Until now, direct visualization of the molecular architecture underlying sarcomere contractility has remained elusive.
