β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrate was used as a test compound for studying the structure and electrochemical properties of NADH electrocatalysts.

β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a cofactor for alcohol dehydrogenase that serves as inhibitory neurotransmitter in visceral smooth muscle.
β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (β-NAD) is a coenzyme present in most living cells. It is implicated in redox reactions and posttranslational modifications. β-NAD also acts as a substrate for various enzymes in several cellular processes.
